When looking at the bending moment diagram, you can see the bending moment, but how does it relate to the cross-section of the component?
The bending capacity of a flexural member follows the equation:
Mx/(y x*Wx) +My/(y y*Wy) ≤f
where W is the section modulus. Based on the section modulus, an approximate cross-section can be manually calculated.
