En las uniones soldadas, la deformaci\u00f3n por contracci\u00f3n se produce cuando la soldadura se enfr\u00eda. Si la placa es delgada o no hay restricciones a la deformaci\u00f3n, la placa se deformar\u00e1 y, por lo tanto, liberar\u00e1 la tensi\u00f3n.Sin embargo, si la placa es muy gruesa o hay nervaduras de refuerzo, las restricciones de las placas vecinas, que impiden que la placa se deforme libremente, ser\u00e1n perpendiculares a la direcci\u00f3n de la superficie de la placa y producir\u00e1n una gran cantidad de tensi\u00f3n.
